Boundaries!
I don’t care what anyone says good people get tired of being nice to ungrateful people.
Let your foot be seldom in your neighbor's house lest he has his full of you and hates you. Proverbs 25:17
We all have boundaries, or we should all have boundaries. If you don’t have boundaries, you are setting yourself up as a people-pleaser, and that can become a problem. It can cause several emotional, psychological, and even physical consequences over time.
Even though we know we should have boundaries, why is it so hard for us to say no? Consistently neglecting personal needs for others can make a person feel unworthy or as if their feelings and needs don’t matter. Or we feel:
- Resentment
- Overwhelm
- Disrespected
- A Pushover
- Drained
- Trapped
I find myself plenty of times, not being able to do what I need to do for myself because I am always being asked to do something for someone else. I believe this is why I don’t write as much or as well as I could. After all, the people in my life depend on me a whole lot and I let them. My Bad!
