As far as I can remember being a biracial child was non-existent. Interracial relationships were not accepted. They were disapproved of and could be dangerous for the two people involved. In some instances especially in the United States interracial relationships were considered illegal because of miscegenation laws. In social settings being in an interracial relationship was not accepted and could be dangerous to the point where lives could be lost.
The Civil Rights Movement increased awareness of racial injustice. It gradually led to a change in public opinion toward interracial relationships, culminating in the Supreme Court case “Loving v. Virginia,” which struck down all anti-miscegenation laws in 1967.
According to censusgov.com, the number of multiracial children in the United States is growing, and the percentage of children with multiracial parents is also increasing.
